Creating Computers

To create a new computer account:

Using Adaxes Administration Console

  1. Launch the Adaxes Administration Console.

  2. In the Console Tree, expand the service node, in which you want to create a new computer (the icon represents service nodes).

  3. Expand Active Directory / <domain>.

  4. Select the node, under which you want to create a computer.

  5. Right-click the selected node, point to New, and click Computer.

    -or-

    Click New Computer on the toolbar.

  6. In the Computer Name field, type the new computer name.

    [Tip]Tip

    By default, the Computer Name (pre-Windows 2000) value is generated automatically by a built-in Property Pattern, but you can modify the generated value the way you need.

  7. To allow the pre-Windows 2000 computers to be associated with the new account, select the Assign this computer account as a pre-Windows 2000 computer check box.

  8. To allow the backup domain controllers to be associated with the new account, select the Assign this computer account as a backup domain controller check box.

  9. Click Finish or click Next to enter additional information.

Using Adaxes Web Interface
  1. Log in to the Adaxes Web Interface.

  2. Click the Browsing tab in the top navigation menu.

  3. Click the domain in which you want to create a computer, and then select the location for the new computer.

    -or-

    Click Browse above the list of managed domains and select the location for the new computer.

  4. Click the Computer link below the top navigation menu.

    [Tip]Tip
    If this link is not displayed, you do not have necessary permissions to create computer objects in this location or it is not allowed by the Active Directory schema.
  5. At the Create New Computer page that opens, type the name for the new computer in the Computer Name field.

  6. To allow the computers running pre-Windows 2000 to be associated with the new account, select the Assign this computer account as a pre-Windows 2000 computer check box.

  7. To allow the backup domain controllers to be associated with the new account, select the Assign this computer account as a backup domain controller check box.

  8. To enter additional information, click Specify more information.

  9. Click Save.
