To raise the functional level of a domain or forest:
Using Adaxes Administration ConsoleTo raise the functional level of a domain:
Launch the Adaxes Administration Console.
In the Console Tree, expand the node of the Adaxes service that manages the AD domain for which you want to raise the functional level (the
icon represents service nodes).
Expand
Active Directory.
Right-click the domain you need, point to All Tasks, and click Raise Domain Functional Level.
Select the level you need from the list of available functional levels.

Tip If the list of functional levels is not available, it means that the domain is set to its highest possible functional level or some domain controllers in this domain are running operating systems not supported at a higher functional level. Click Raise.
To raise the functional level of a forest:
Launch the Adaxes Administration Console.
In the Console Tree, expand the node of the Adaxes service that manages an AD domain located in the forest for which you want to raise the forest functional level (the
icon represents service nodes).
Expand
Active Directory.
Right-click a domain located in the forest you need, point to All Tasks, and click Raise Forest Functional Level.
Select the level you need from the list of available functional levels.
Tip If the list of functional levels is not available, it means that the forest is set to its highest possible functional level or some domain controllers in this forest are running operating systems not supported at a higher functional level. Click Raise.

Using Adaxes Web Interface
To raise the functional level of a domain:
Log in to the Adaxes Web Interface.
Click the Browsing tab in the top navigation menu.
Click the domain, functional level of which you want to raise.
At the page that opens, click Raise domain functional level.
Tip If this link is not displayed, you do not have permissions to raise the functional level of this domain. Select the functional level from the list of available functional levels.
Tip If the list of functional levels is not available, it means that the domain is set to its highest possible functional level or some domain controllers in this domain are running operating systems not supported at a higher functional level. Click Raise.

Log in to the Adaxes Web Interface.

Click any domain in the forest, functional level of which you want to raise.
At the page that opens click Raise forest functional level.

| Raising the domain or forest functional level is an irreversible operation. Once the domain or forest functional level is raised, domain controllers running earlier operating systems cannot be added to the network. So, before raising functional levels, make sure that there is no need to add domain controllers running earlier operating systems to your network. |
