Configuring Winlogon Settings

With the help of Password Self-Service, users can reset their forgotten passwords and unlock accounts in Active Directory. To access this functionality from the Windows logon and unlock screens (Ctrl + Alt + Del), you need to install the Adaxes Self-Service Client and configure its settings in the Administration Console.

To configure the Adaxes Self-Service Client settings for all computers in AD domains managed by the Adaxes service:

  1. Launch the Adaxes Administration Console.

  2. In the Console Tree, expand your service node (the icon represents service nodes).

  3. Expand Configuration / Password Self-Service and click Winlogon.

  4. To enable password reset from the Winlogon screen, select the Allow users to reset their passwords from the Windows logon screen check-box in the Result Pane.

    [Tip]Tip
Self-password reset will be enabled for all computers, where the Adaxes Self-Service Client is installed.
  5. In the Web Interface URL field, specify the URL of the Web Interface that will be used to access the Reset Password page from the Windows logon screen.

  6. In the Text field, specify optional text that will be displayed at the Windows logon screen next to the Reset Password link.

  7. In the Command link text field, specify the text for the link to the Reset Password page displayed on the Winlogon screen.

  8. If necessary, click More options and enter the priority of the specified settings.

The priority of the Winlogon settings is used when an AD domain is managed by several Adaxes services. Each of these services can have own Winlogon settings. So, in such situation the priority determines which settings to be applied (the settings with the highest priority).

  9. Click Save.

To download the Adaxes Self-Service Client, click the Self-Service Client button. To download the Adaxes Self-Service Client Installation Guide, click the Installation Guide button.
