Creating Property Pattern

To create a Property Pattern:

  1. Launch the Adaxes Administration Console.

  2. In the Console Tree, expand the service node, in which you want to create a new Property Pattern (the icon represents service nodes).

  3. Right-click any object under the expanded service node, point to New, and then click Property Pattern.

    Click on the toolbar.

  4. In the Property Pattern Creation wizard that starts, type the new Pattern name and optional description.

    [Tip]Tip

    If you do not need this Property Pattern to be effective immediately after its creation, clear the Enabled check box.

  5. Click Next.

  6. In the Object Type page, select the type of objects, properties of which the new Property Pattern will affect.

    To view the whole list of available object types, check Show all objects types below.

    If you select the User object type, you can select if this Rule will be effective for InetOrgPersons too. To do so, select the Apply for InetOrgPerson as well check box below the list of object types.

  7. In the Configure Property Pattern page, click Add, and in the drop-down list, select a property, constraints and value generating template of which you want to specify.

  8. In the Add Property Pattern Item dialog box, define the constraints and value generating template for the selected property and click OK.

    The options available in the Add Property Pattern Item dialog box depend on the type of the selected property (binary, boolean, numeric, or textual).

  9. Click Next.

  10. In the Activity Scope page, click Add and specify the objects this Property Pattern will affect.

    You can also exclude certain objects from the activity scope. To do so, select the object you want to exclude, click Add, then check Exclude the selection in the Assignment Options dialog box.

    To find a specific object, you can type its name or several starting characters of it in the edit box, located right above the search results list.

    To search in a certain managed domain, or specify a Business Unit as an Activity Scope item, select the corresponding object in the Look in combo-box.

    If the object types you need are not displayed, click Object Types below the search results list, and check the object types to search for.

  11. Select the required object, click Add, then define the Assignment Options, and click OK two times.

  12. Click Finish.

[Note]Note

It is not necessary to select the Property Pattern container in the Console Tree to create a Property Pattern. Just right-click any object in the Console Tree or Results Pane, when connected to the service, then point to New, and click Property Pattern.

You can group Property Patterns in containers. To do so, right-click the Property Patterns container in the Console tree, point to New, and click Container. To create a Property Pattern in a certain container, select the container in the Console Tree, right-click it, then point to New, and click Property Pattern.
