We recently updated the assistant field of all of our Executives using Powershell command lines and we see the field updated in Outlook, but the populated field is not showing in Adaxes. I see the field there when I lookup a user, but it is not populated. I understand this is a hidden field, but is there a way to show and edit this field in Adaxes?

Hello,

Do we understand correctly that you see the Assistant property empty in Adaxes Web interface? If that is correct, to see/modify the property values, you need to add it to the corresponding Web interface forms. For details, have a look at the following tutorial: https://www.adaxes.com/tutorials_WebInterfaceCustomization_CustomizeFormsForUserCreationAndEditing.htm. Also, you will need to grant users corresponding permissions. For information on how to do that, see https://www.adaxes.com/tutorials_DelegatingPermissions_GrantRightsToModifySpecificProperties.htm. If this is not what you need, please, provide all the possible details regarding the issue with live examples and screenshots. You can post screenshots here or send them to support@adaxes.com.

Sorry if I did not explain well. I updated the Assistant field on our Exchange server using Powershell and when I look at the properties of the users I updated in Outlook I see the Assistant field populated. Also confirmed the field is showing as filled out properly using Powershell on the server. But in Adaxes the field is not showing as populated (see pic below). I would like to have this field show up as populated in Adaxes and the ability to modify through Adaxes. I understand this is a hidden field in AD which may cause some difficulties.

Assistant field not populated.

Hello,

The Assistant field in your screenshot refers to the Assistant property in Active Directory. If it is blank (as in your screenshot), then the field in also blank in AD. Most probably, you updated some field that is for Outlook/Exchange only and is not related to the AD one. For us to suggest a solution, please, post here or send us (support@adaxes.com) the script you used to update the field. Also, please, specify where you see the field in Outlook.

The Powershell line I used to populate the Assistant field is:

Set-User -Identity "targetuser@domain.com" -AssistantName "Assistant Name"

I did this in the Exchange Management Shell. The field that would be populated is the "Assistant" field in the "General" tab in Outlook. This would be brought up by right clicking on the person and going to "Outlook Properties." The example below is not populated, but I have confirmed it is populated for those I have added the Assistant name for.

Hello,

Thank you for the provided details. The property you are looking for is msExchAssistantName. To view/modify the property values, you need to add it to the required forms in the Web interface. For details, have a look at the following tutorial: https://www.adaxes.com/tutorials_WebInterfaceCustomization_CustomizeFormsForUserCreationAndEditing.htm. Also you can change the property display name. For information on how to do it, have a look at the following help article: https://www.adaxes.com/help/CustomizePropertyDisplayNames.
