I am working on an environment that still has AD attributes on prem but the Last Exchange Server was simply shutdown without the cleanup.

I am reading through the MS guide on moving the SOA for exchange attributes here and was hoping to clarify the effect if we went down this road from Adaxes management.

I am assuming we would set the exchange not managed option for the forest, would we then also need to adjust any business rules and commands that manage attributes or is there some magic linkage in Adaxes that would write the attributes via M365/EOL?

Hello,

There is no need to change the source of authority when you decommission your last on-premises Exchange server. The corresponding attributes will remain in your AD schema and Adaxes will use them whenever required for synchronized accounts. However, certain things still need adjustment in Adaxes. For details, have a look at the following article: https://www.adaxes.com/questions/16903/does-adaxes-function-after-decommissioning-exchange-server.
