Hello,

Is there a way to have an option to delay creating a user? Right now when we fill out the form for a new user it creates immediately.

We have times where we need to create a user but not have them know in our system for legal purposes. We have tried to have the account hidden but it doesn't work all the time and the Lync account still shows on everyone's address list.

What I am thinking is there is some sort of check box on the user creation screen that says delay until and has you set a time like for midnight. That way the user account creation is in queue until midnight then it processes. I know it sounds crazy but it would help us immensely.

Hello,

As a solution, we recommend sending user creation for approval. In this case, the account will not be created until approved. For information on how to send operations for approval, have a look at the following help article: http://www.adaxes.com/help/?ManageAppro ... roval.html.

Thank you for the response. The problem we have with that is that if someone starts in a different time zone than our IT dept.(PST vs EST) then the new user in some cases will have to wait until we click approve in 3 hours once we get to the office. Is there a way to schedule the creating by setting a time or scheduled process?

Hello,

You can use the following solution:

  • Create disabled users in a specific OU without enabling them in Skype for Business.
  • Create a Scheduled Task running at the required time. The task will enable users in the OU, move to a specific OU, enable the users for Skype for Business and perform other provisioning operations. For information on how to create Scheduled Tasks, have a look at the following tutorial: http://www.adaxes.com/tutorials_Automat ... gement.htm. The Activity Scope of the Scheduled Task must include only the OU that contains new disabled users. It will look like the following:

Thank you. This could work. Is there a way to have a field on the website that says this is a delayed provision and to put the user creation on the schedule?
Maybe add an custom AD attribute that gets flagged to add to the delayed process.

Hello,

You can use one of Adaxes custom attributes (e.g. CustomAttibuteBoolean1) and configure the Scheduled Task to run only for users that have this property set to True. For information on how to configure forms for user creation and editing, have a look at the following tutorial: http://www.adaxes.com/tutorials_WebInte ... diting.htm. For information on how to specify a self-descriptive display name for the custom property, have a look at the following help article: http://www.adaxes.com/help/?HowDoI.Mana ... Names.html.

Thank you.

So i'm guessing there isn't a way to schedule dynamically? Meaning if I want the account to be created next week Monday morning but I added to the queue today.

Hello,

No, there is no such possibility.

As a solution, you can do the following:

  • Create a disabled user and set a date when it should be enabled. For the date you can use an Adaxes custom date attribute (e.g. CustomAttributeDate1).
  • Create a Scheduled Task that will enable a user on the specified date and provision them. The Scheduled Task will look like the following:
0

Ok, thank you.
