Is there no "mail enable" action for contacts by default?

I was able to create a button but I was suprised there wasn't one already built-in.

Hello,

Out of the box, there is no Mail-enable action in any of the three built-in Web Interfaces (Administrator, Help Desk, Self Service). However, the Establish email address operation is by default enabled for contact objects in the Administrator and Help Desk Web Interfaces. It is displayed in the left pane in the following cases:

  • when viewing a contact image.png
  • when a contact object is selected one in a list (e.g. when browsing AD). image.png
