The new version of Adaxes says it uses Powershell 7 and Powershell 5.1 scripts may need to be re-written. I have so many scripts using a combination of Adaxes Module commands, and Active Directory Module commands, how will I be able to tell what scripts need to be rewritten? Also, do I need to pre-install Powershell 7 on my servers? I have a 2 server environment with an external data base but I can't find the upgrade instructions for this type of upgrade I used to have a link can you provide that? I have several different web views for several different teams and uses. Will existing permissions change?

Hello,

how will I be able to tell what scripts need to be rewritten?

In most cases, you just need to install the version of a module for PowerShell 7 and that should be it. At the same time, there are modules/cmdlets that do not support PowerShell 7. In this case, you will need to check for alternatives.

Also, do I need to pre-install Powershell 7 on my servers?

No, there is no need for that.

I have a 2 server environment with an external data base but I can't find the upgrade instructions for this type of upgrade I used to have a link can you provide that?

Have a look at section Upgrade multi-server configuration of the installation guide: https://www.adaxes.com/help/InstallationGuide/#upgrade-multi-server-configuration.

I have several different web views for several different teams and uses. Will existing permissions change?

No, nothing should change.

Hello, I'm here with some questions regarding those custom attribute from Adaxes : - Where are they stored ? - Can we backup/restore them ? - Is it "better" to use Adaxes custom attribute or should we create our own attribute within AD ? (Pro/cons ?) Thanks.

The individualmodule for PnP if upgraded to 2.2 in non PowerShell 7 breaks in Adaxers. Previous versions of Powershell will not allow the 2.2 PnP version to connect which is ... to make this work but if it is deprecated by MS, then we will lose functionality.

I tried two times to update our perfectly working Adaxes instance (2022.1) to the newest version. Update process doesn't show any errors. Same applies for restore of ... service is running fine, so there is clearly some problem with permissions/access. Thanks!
