Disable operations on directory objects

The operations available in Adaxes Web interface depend on the user's permissions which are granted via security roles. If a user doesn't have the rights to perform an operation, it will not be available and even visible to the user in the Web interface.

However, sometimes you may need to explicitly disable certain operations. For example, when a user selects multiple objects, the Web interface doesn't check permissions for each of the selected objects and displays all available operations. Also, you may want to disable some operations to simplify the user interface and get rid of the features users don't need.

  1. Open Adaxes Web interface configurator.

    • On the computer where Web interface configurator is installed, open Windows Start menu.

    • Click Adaxes Web Interface Configurator.

    To configure the Web interface, you need to have the appropriate permissions.

    The permissions to configure the Web interface are delegated via security roles. By default, only service administrators have the appropriate permissions. To enable other users to configure the Web interface, grant them the corresponding permissions.

    To create a security role that grants the permissions to configure Web interface:

    • In Adaxes Administration console, right-click your Adaxes service, point to New and click Security Role.

    • Enter a name for the new security role and click Next.

    • On the Permissions step, click the down arrow embedded into the Add button and click Configure Web Interface.

    • Click Next and follow the steps in the wizard.

  2. In the top left corner, select the Web interface you want to customize.

  3. In the left navigation menu, click Management.

  4. To completely disable an operation, uncheck it in the Operations section.

    You can configure Custom Commands in the same way you configure other operations.

  5. You can disable an operation only in specific Web interface components. For example, you can disallow the Delete operation in search results.

     How to disable Delete on search results { #configureoperations}
    • Select the Delete operation.

    • On the Visibility tab, locate the Grids list.

    • Clear the checkbox in the Visible column for the Search component.

      If you want an operation to be hidden by default under the Other button, enable the checkbox in the Other column.

  6. Also, you can disable specific operations in object views.

     How to hide an operation in object views { #howtodisableforview}
    • In the Operations section, select the operation you want to hide.

    • On the Visibility tab, locate the Views list.

    • Clear the checkbox in the Visible column for the object type you need.

      If you want an operation to be hidden by default under the Other button, select the checkbox in the Other column.

  7. Save the changes.

    The settings in a section can be applied to other Web interfaces. For this purpose, in the top right corner of the section, click the down arrow button and choose Apply to other Web interfaces.
