Hello

Where can I find the roadmap, showing planned new features and major changes in Adaxes ?

- Thanks

Hello,

Currently, we do not publish an official roadmap, but we can share outlines of the features for the next major version:

  • New Web Interface engine
In the new version, the Web Interface will have a new look and feel. It will work faster and will be more adapted to mobile devices, such as smartphones and tablets. The Web Interface configuration will now be stored as a part of Adaxes service configuration, thus eliminating the need for a separate Web Interface backup.
Also, the Web Interface will have a RESTful API.
  • Reports
In the new version, Adaxes will allow you to customize the pre-canned reports or even build your own reports. Also, it will be possible to schedule reports.

Other minor features can be added later in the development process, but currently the above 2 features are our major priorities.

Hi - do you have an ETA on this version as yet?

I have a fairly major project coming up where we will need to review Adaxes against similar tools in this space (MS Identity Manager etc.) and I'd certainly like to make sure we encompass updates in the Web UI and reporting (two areas where we do see some weaknesses at the moment).

Thanks

Hello,

There is no more or less rigid ETA for this version. We are targeting the end of this year or the very beginning of the next year.

Hello,

We had to shift the release date. There is no ETA yet. We are now targeting the mid-2016.

OK, thanks.

As I noted earlier in the thread we are updating a lot of our AD security policies\controls this year, so I would be very interested in understand what functionality may be added as soon as we can. I recognise that you may not want to commit to deliverables, but in terms of being able to assess Adaxes against other options I would want to give you the best possible "chance". Areas (non-exhaustive) we'll be looking at are:-

  • PowerShell v4 support
  • Mobile browser support for Web UI
  • Email based approvals (click direct links in emails to approve\deny, ability to reply to emails to approve\deny)
  • Support for log text entry fields in workflows i.e. inputing justifications\change release ID's etc as part of a workflowed task
  • Ability to manage Managed Service Accounts in 2008R2+ domains
  • Can it functionally replace MS Identity Manager in the MS privileged account control framework
  • Ability to revoke\'rollback' tasks and\or support for temporal changes (e.g. timed group membership changes)
  • (Better) support for multiple levels of approval (4-eyes)

Hello

May I suggest a seperate forum for feature requests and roadmap news, so these are not mixed up with support posts.

Hello,

May I suggest a seperate forum for feature requests and roadmap news, so these are not mixed up with support posts.

Thanks for the suggestion, we'll think on that.

Hello,

PowerShell v4 support

In the new version, we'll support at least PowerShell 3.0. As for PowerShell 4.0, that's not confirmed yet. By the way, you can use the this workaround.

Mobile browser support for Web UIMobile browser support for Web UI

Yes, we'll pay special attention to how the Web interface looks and feels on mobile devices (both smartphones and tablets).

Email based approvals (click direct links in emails to approve\deny, ability to reply to emails to approve\deny)

We have that in our Product Backlog, and it is a popular request, but most probably it's not going to be added in the nearest version.

Support for log text entry fields in workflows i.e. inputing justifications\change release ID's etc as part of a workflowed task

We have a request in our Product Backlog to provide a reason for Approval Request and provide a reason why a request was approved. Probably, that's something you are looking for. This is not going to be a part of the nearest release, most probably, but it is a popular request. We'll keep it in mind.

Ability to manage Managed Service Accounts in 2008R2+ domains

Thanks for the suggestion. We'll think on that.

Can it functionally replace MS Identity Manager in the MS privileged account control framework

Could you explain this request in more detail?

Ability to revoke\'rollback' tasks and\or support for temporal changes (e.g. timed group membership changes)

We have some of that on our Product Backlog, in particular timed group membership, but it's not going to be a part of the nearest release.

(Better) support for multiple levels of approval (4-eyes)

What exactly do you mean by 'better'?

Thanks for the reply.

For your followup questions:-

> MS Identity Manager: I don't know the full capabilities of MS IM - and more importantly whether some of the functionality leverages features that cannot be replicated by an 'LDAP abstraction' tool etc. A question we will be asking ourselves is whether we should be using the native MS tools to perform AD management (despite their higher cost and general higher complexity to install).
This really relates to an issue we are starting to see with a proliferation of 'AD Management' tools that all overlap with functionality and have their own strengths and weaknesses. For example we see Adaxes itself as having a very strong scripting engine and flexibility, but a poor web UI for business users. We are also working with AD tools that support File\Folder access approvals with a very strong UI for that specific task, but weak wider flexibility; other tools that have a flexible UI for multiple tasks, but weak scripting etc.

This is a fairly 'open' question I know, but for the specific MS IM question it may be worth you having a look at https://blog.css-security.com/blog/priv ... nager-2015. This describes PAM within IM and some of the techniques it uses (Group membership 'TTL', shadowed SID's etc) that would appear to need to be controllable via Adaxes in order to implement the PAM model.

> 4-Eyes Approvals: This was primarily related to the issue that the default behaviour when defining multiple approvers for the GUI is to 'OR' rather than 'AND' them, and if a requestor is a member of a group than is marked as an approver it will be automatically approved.
An example would be the required logic that someone in group 'Admins' can perform a task so long as someone else in the group approves it; currently if you set 'Admins' as the approvers for a task it will be auto-approved if a member initiates the task. I know we can manually construct the required logic using scripts, but that is overly-complex so it would be useful if the GUI had options for i) 'Do Not Allow Inititiator To Approve Their Own Request' or ii) 'Require X Approvals Before Continuing' (e.g).

Hi.

Do you have, or will you soon be able to talk about\demo expected updates in the new 2016 version?

I undertstand you may still be working on this, but we are keen to see what may be in the next release.

We are happy with the product, and I am very much a positive 'user', but the web UI is starting to look a bit 'tired' compared to your competitors in this space - Quest as an example.

I'm happy to go 'out of band' under NDA if you have conceptual mockup's, descriptions of new functionality in the new release etc, but I'm sure many people on this forum will be keen to see what is in the pipeline.

Many Thanks

0

Hello,

First of all, thank you for your good words, we really appreciate that!

We are not yet able to provide you any information as to when a demo of the new version will be available. As to new features, we've already mentioned before in this topic that the 2 major features are a new version of the Web Interface with a completely new look and feel, and also a much more advanced Reports subsystem. As to minor features, we have not decided on a detailed list yet. We'll decide on that closer to the release date when the major features are more or less complete.

We are not ready to provide mock-ups and descriptions of the new functionality on this forum, however we've sent you a couple of mock-ups to your email address. Note however that these are just conceptual previews that can change at any time. We do not guarantee that the final version of the Web interface will look exactly as presented on the mock-ups.

Hello

I also Need more Information on the Roadmap.

The product is in our Evaluation list, so we Need to see the future Website Look. The actual web design is not sufficient for us. (in comparisation of other products). But your script Engine is very good.

We need also the creation of Shared Mailboxes and the BULK creation of Users in the WebSite.

Thank you for the mock-ups.

Gustav

0

Hello Gustav,

We've sent you mock-ups of how Adaxes Web Interface will look like in the new version. Check your inbox.

BULK creation of Users in the WebSite

Currently, that's not available, however you can configure an action in the Web Interface to bulk import users, for example, from a CSV file located on a certain share or from a data source, like an SQL database, for example.

Creation of Shared Mailboxes

For information on how to configure creation of shared mailboxes in Adaxes, see Need to create non-user mailboxes.

Hello

Any news on future improvements, design and features ?

- Cheers

0

Hello,

You can find a list of major features in Roadmap. As for minor features, we are not ready to extend on that yet.

0

Hello,

We had to shift the release date. There is no ETA yet. We are now targeting the mid-2016.

An update on release timeline?

In regards to the development cycle for this product in general, is there any plan to add additional features at a more rapid pace in the future? I understand the need to balance limited resources while maintaining stability and security and I don't discount the complexity and scale of such an undertaking, but there is so much potential here that I hate to see stagnation. Perhaps setting up a beta/preview program could also help.

0

Hello.

Anything new to share here? If you could please provide a new target date for this realese, that would be great. We need this for our internal roadmap. Also, if you could send some mock-ups and descriptions that would be great.

0

... also ...

- A forum for posting and discussing feature requests.
- An updated list of backlog's. What's in development, planned and on-hold ?

Adaxes is a great alternative to expensive IDM systems, but less attractive if we have no clue of where the product is heading (in detail).

- Thanks

Any word on the when the next version of Adaxes will be ready? I'm in need of some custom reports.

0

Hello,

We had to shift the release date. There is no ETA yet. We are now targeting the mid-2016.

Adaxes, what's going on here? It's been almost a month since you've last posted on the forums and we're well beyond mid-2016. Please provide an update on the status of the next release. I realize ETAs can shift, which is why devs are hesitant to give them, but at least keep us posted.

0

Hello,

We had to shift the release containing a new version of the Web Interface and the updated Reports subsystem again. It will be available at the very beginning of 2017.

However, tomorrow, we are going to release Adaxes 2016 that will contain a range of other features initially planned for that release. In particular, it will add the following functionality:

  • support for creating and deleting remote mailboxes;
  • support for the OWA for Devices Mailbox Feature;
  • managing Storage Quotas of Exchange Online Mailboxes;
  • storing log records in databases located outside of your Active Directory environment, such as, for example, Windows Azure SQL databases;
  • optimized the performance and stability of the mechanisms used to access Office 365 and Exchange Online.

The new release will also contain a range of minor features and important bug fixes.

Hello and a Happy New Year

Any updates on this ?
Some sneak previews or something else, that could give us some clue of what to expect in the next (major) version ??

- Thanks

0

Hello,

Thank you for the congratulations.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you too.

We are targeting the beginning of summer 2017 for the next major release.

There are two major features that remain our priorities for the release: New Web Interface and New Reports Engine.

0

Hello Support.

Now that 2017.1 is released, no new web interface or reports engine is included... When can this be expected?

0

Hello,

These features will be included into the next release of Adaxes which is planned for the end of summer.

0

Hi Support,

Can you also confirm the status of the RESTful API that was originally mentioned in Sept 2015, will this be included as part of the 'new web interface'?

0

Hello Sam,

Yes, that will be a part of the new Web Interface.

0

Hi - is it the end of summer yet? It's raining in England, so that means yes, so I assume the new version is forthcoming?

Slightly sarcastic I know, but do you have a ETA date yet? I love everything above Adaxes, apart from your ability to hit release dates, and unfortunately we have business drivers that don't like open ended delivery dates...!

0

Hello,

It is just that we have overestimated our capabilities. We are doing our best to release the next major version of Adaxes as soon as possible. However, there is no exact date for the next major release of Adaxes.

0

Yikes, I appreciate the candidness, but definitely not something you want to hear as a paid customer, though one could easily make this assumption by reading between the lines. Hope you can get the ship turned around soon as Adaxes is a great product with great potential.

0

Hello,

The new version of Adaxes is available. Adaxes 2018.1 supports PowerShell 3.0 and later, includes a totally new Web Interface adapted for mobile devices, allows creating custom reports and much more.

You can download the new version here.
